Stopped in My Tracks

Take Notes, Fellas

There are few things less captivating in life than a beautiful couple. My fellow chronic people watchers out there I bet you agree. I have a strong love/hate relationship with Olivia Palermo. Who can blame me? She messed with my girls on The City. Fact, I'm still struggling with that when I see her rockin an awesome outfit I'd love to replicate. She hasn't entirely won my forgiveness...yet. But boy, is she close with the most recent shots I've seen of her. I have to give her props for not only her recent outfit choices but also, that arm candy. Oh la la. Either Palermo and her boyfriend since 2008 Johannes Huebl have mastered how to pose adoringly on cue for the paparazzi or they really are passionately in love. Imagine that! Perhaps both. Regardless, keep photographing paparazzi, I can't get enough of this beautiful couple.

They're Baaack

So Not Over, Overalls

Believe it or not, I am excited about the comeback of overalls I've been spying on all my favorite fashionistas. Like, Jessie Spano "I'm so excited." Which is fitting because she definitely sported a light acid washed pair a time or two in her Saved By the Bell days. Yes, Jessie Spano's excitement from an overdose on caffeine pills is an overused and abused reference, but it's oh so fitting here I couldn't resist. I must admit the resurfacing of vintage pairs are my favorite. I will be ransacking every Salvation Army and Thrift Store in a 160 mile radius until I find my very own. Who knows, maybe high folded over white tube socks and Keds will be next. With a modern twist of course. What child of the 90's doesn't want to relive their Full House and Adventures of Mary Kate & Ashley days? I believe that's where I saw my very first pair of coveted flower power overalls. And now look how far we (and they) have come with our style. Anythings possible and from someone forever voting for the underdog, I can't resist supporting a comeback of any kind. I stand in stronger support voting in favor of the resurfacing of overalls than a future presidential candidate. Maybe that's a stretch...but a wise woman once said, "I don't believe in the Democratic or Republican parties, I just believe in parties." Preach, Sex & the City, preach.

C'est La Vie Color

omowrites.com

Black is the New Black's Black

Parisian women, since forever (?), have always appeared effortlessly chic and stylish. I credit this to the color black holding a strong majority of all their wardrobe color palettes. Coco Chanel anyone? Perhaps it also has something to do with how they reside and get to call one of the most enchanting cities of the world home. Parisian women always manage to nail trends without even trying. The simplest trends too which for me are the most difficult to emulate. At Paris fashion week head to toe black attire was nearly everywhere and I could not be happier.

Why does the word black especially in terms of clothing have to hold such negative connotation? Society expects you to wear black at a funeral. "Blacking" out is frowned upon. "Pretty black flowers are my favorite," said nobody, ever. The "bad guys" in movies are always decked out in black.  I, however, would be ecstatic to have a closest exclusively full of black clothes. Unfortunately I'm compelled to add the splash of color here or there otherwise my not so fashion forward family (sorry, but it's true) would constantly worry I'm mourning some loss or a second away from whipping out a razor blade. I don't think Parisian women share, nor care, about this possibility. They are so cool. My "green with envy" of a Parisian woman's air is surely exposed through all my layers of black. For my gals out there who share my joy in embracing their inner goth, fear not American women have been dressing for funerals too. So put on your scowl, think Rooney Mara in Dragon Tattoo, squeeze into those leather pants, lace up those combat boots, and get ready to black out.
